Hi Melissa, Thank you for sharing your heart in your blog, whether it is something from the present or something from the past. No matter how often or seldom you write, it is always a blessing and it keeps my heart connected with yours there in Peru. Whether you know it or not, you are teaching me how to walk with God according to His expectations and not my own. That's priceless! With the love and joy of the Lord, Sharon

Hi Melissa, Thanks for the blog entry. I'm so interested in everything that is happening there, and I love reading your blog. I tried the facebook thing, but it is too addicting with all of the other distractions on it. I did get a great look at the construction pictures, though, and the rooms look beautiful--so clean, bright, and colorful! Matt is coming down in June, and he is going to love it there, I just know it. Deep in my heart, I often wonder if my sons will end up there some day (I haven't ever told anyone that). I don't know what God has planned for them, but I trust Him completely, and all of it is very exciting. Thank you so much for your prayer at the end of the blog. It made me cry. God bless you all. We are praying for you and your work. Love, Sharon Joyner

Rest assured Peterson Clan, if you do think of anything you forgot or miss too badly, or just cannot live without; there is a long line of fans and supporters who will endeavor to help fill the void. I would agree with the 6-8 week homesick threshold and the approaching holidays will not make it any easier, but I can say from experience that it's easier to be away from the U.S. when the family is right there together, including the dog. I recall sharing our culture and learning the Singaporean culture many years ago, and it made the period away from family fly by and during the three months of the year that the family was there, the time went even faster. My kids recall with great fondness, the time we spent there and wish that they had been older and remembered more. Once we get past the distance and realize that we are far more similar than we are different, the "foreignness" just melts away. Remember, it's all relative, I would love to do the Lord's work full time, but lack the adventuresome nature to make the jump, so when it seems less than exciting, know that at least one Ni River "North" guy would love to be there, it seems pretty exciting from up here.

Be safe and know that you are all missed and that we pray for you all the time!!!!!

I'll bet those kids love any attention an adult will give them. Besides, what kid doesn't like a nice breakfast.

Make no mistake, we are all thankful for God's patience. As Don was making mention of the things we up here in Fredericksburg have been doing in His name, he mentioned that although God could wave a hand and fix roofs, feed the homeless, do random acts of kindness and do construction projects in Peru, but He uses us. We are flawed, we often fail to live up to our committments and seldom rise to our potential, but He just keeps using us to do His work. We are unworthy and often unwilling, but there is no plan "B".

On a personal note, I am so thankful that when Lynn went down there, a handfull of guys stepped up to help me do Craftsmen (& Women!) projects, bringing all the talents that I lack (and that's a long list) to make sure my organizational passion is complimented by skilled craftsmen. We are growing the Craftsmen team and doing more each month. The funding has come from various sources and the needs are many.

The service last week was awesome, the team of folks that went down to Peru gave testimony and inspired us all to work harder and give of ourselves to those with less than we have.

During my extended deployments away from family and loved ones back in my Navy life, I always felt left out and far from home. I felt like they would change and I would be sort of left behind. I never ceased to be amazed when I came home to find that it was I who had changed and that was because I had ventured from the comfort zone and grown. You guys have ventured from the usual comfort zone and are probably growing in faith and committment so far it would amaze us all back home. I hope as you grow you'll help us all to sense how your views change as you think of us. When faith grows, I wonder what you would say to us back here in the comfort zone?? would you say "just let go and let God, it great to feel nothing between yourself and his loving hands holding you", would you be impatient with others, how will the four of you be changed?? Have you found a new home for life or is this just an adjustment of direction??

Oh my I have rambled......

We love all of you and think of you so often, your musical contribution, those talented hands of the carpenter and those wild high top tennis shoes!!!!!

You GO Petersons!!!!!!!!

Have a wonderful week and keep sharing, even when there are days you would choose not to repeat, and there will surely be those days, but let us hold all of you up in prayer then too.

Love from Rich and Myra Chandler
