Nuevos Amigos Christian School Needs Your Help!

Think back to when you were in elementary school. What was your favorite part of the day? Most likely, it was either recess or snack time. At Nuevos Amigos Christian School it is no different, but our students are in danger of losing one of their favorite times of day: snack time. The difference is, reducing snack time, or any meal for that matter, costs our students some of the only nourishment they receive.

The government in Ecuador has raised the cost of food beyond what ChildReach can support at this point in time. To provide more understanding, here is just one example. The usual fruit cost for NACS students in one month is approximately $300. In May alone, the costs have already reached $630 because of inflation. The Ecuadorian government is threatening more cost raises in August.

ChildReach understands these are tough economic times for everyone across the world, but we refuse to let our students suffer. For most students, NACS provides a large majority of the food they receive in the week. With such a large increase in the cost of living, it is our guess that families will struggle more than they already are. It is our prayer that God will provide, as He always does, so we can continue to nourish the bodies and spirits of His children in Ecuador.

Haiti Mission Teams Now Forming

For several weeks since the earthquake, we have been praying over how as a ministry we can help the fatherless and those affected in Haiti.

We believe that God has given us the opportunity to partner with an orphanage in Pignon (about 70 miles, five travel hours, north of Port Au Prince).  Prior to the earthquake, they had 37 children, and since then they have taken in another nine.

The orphanage is needing more space, and adding another building to their property appears the best idea.  Our goal is to assist financially and send teams to help them construct another building on their property. Construction/Ministry teams are now forming for a late July and early October project dates.  These trips will be 7-10 day projects and the cost are between $1,100-$1,350. Costs vary depending on airfare and the number of participants.

There are so many tragic stories from the earthquake. Peterson is a 10 year old boy whose family members died in the earthquake, all except for his 8 year old brother.  Together, they wandered the streets of Port Au Prince for several weeks.  Somehow during this time, Peterson was separated from his younger brother.  He was discovered and brought to the orphanage in Pignon, and still does not know where his younger brother is located.
